CRYSTALLIZER

The crystallizer is an apparatus designed to transform a solution or a molten product into pure, well-defined solid crystals.
Through precise control of temperature, concentration, and agitation, it promotes crystal growth while regulating the shape, size, and quality of the final product.

Thanks to this technology, it is possible to obtain products with a high degree of purity and stability — fundamental for the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries.

A crystallizer must be equipped with systems for:

  • agitation
  • loading and unloading
  • heating, cooling
  • pressurization, depressurization
  • venting, drainage
  • treatment of discharges from safety devices
  • control, command, and parameter recording

OPERATING CYCLE

Crystallizers for batch processes generally operate on multi-product systems, according to well-defined parameters and a specific operating cycle divided into three main phases:

Loading

Crystallization

Transfer

FEATURES

In batch crystallizers, the production volume normally remains constant, while the rate and conversion vary over time.

Crystallizers can be built in different configurations and materials, according to process requirements and the principles of known scale-up / scale-down processes.

The advantages of OMCA crystallizers include maximum versatility, thanks to the modularity of the internal components and the wide range of available types (thermoregulation through external jackets / half-pipes and/or internal coils).
The correct choice of internals and agitation systems improves the performance of the crystallizer and the quality of the crystal produced.

Upon request, crystallizers can be manufactured according to the user’s data sheet, complete with the corresponding agitation group.
